Situated in the heart of the city, Peerless Inn Kolkata is a quick walk from the Esplanade metro station. Close to both Howrah and Sealdah station region, it is just under an hour’s drive from the Kolkata airport.
The Peerless Inn Kolkata property has 10 floors, with two proper restaurants, a bakery and several banquet spaces, ranging from 500 sq. ft. to 3000 sq. ft., making it a great destination for hosting conferences, functions and weddings. I have personally attended multiple events here and can tell from experience that the location, together with private car parking area in the heart of the city are two of its biggest advantages.
As I checked in, I was offered room 708, the Chowringhee Suite. The terrific view is just a part of the perks of staying in this room – from the window you can spot Shahid Minar immediately, followed by a plethora of places familiar to the Kolkata skyline – from Howrah Bridge to Maidan to the hullabaloo of Esplanade, the panoramic view is what you can stare at for hours, like me. To see the busy city in action from a bird’s eye viewpoint is a treat to the eyes.
But I digress. The suite opens up to a sitting space with a spacious sofa set and a table beside the window. Turn right and you enter the bedroom that is equipped with a plush, comfortable bed. There’s a safe for your valuables, an electric kettle and arrangements for tea/coffee, and a big screen television for entertainment.
The bathroom at The Peerless Inn, Kolkata, is compact yet functional with a set of toiletries to attend to one’s basic requirements. Rooms are thoroughly sanitized before every occupancy and there’s a sanitizer on the room for further requirement. As of now, Peerless offers both in-room dining as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Breakfast is mostly complimentary, but in case its not, the charges are currently INR 500 all inclusive.
The Chowringhee Suite is designed to have a bird’s eye view of the city and easily one of my favourite views of the city in this world. I also quite like their restaurant, Aaheli, and I think I have written about it before. The last time I was there, I ended up tasting a lot of things from their menu, and it was rather lovely.
The Peerless Inn is a great space if you want to stay in the heart of the city, so the next time you’re in Kolkata, you may want to check it out.
