Recently, fashion designer Pranay Baidya and popular actor Raima Sen hosted a lovely initiative: Kiehl’s Gives, which is a philanthropic initiative by the renowned New York-based brand. Kiehl’s has always sought to “improve in some way the quality of the community to which it is committed… making for better citizens, better firms, and better communities.”
Therefore, Kiehl’s has recently partnered with actress Neha Dhupia and Teach For India to establish ‘Kiehl’s Gives’, which is an ongoing global initiative to promote philanthropy. For the first time in India, the brand will retail a special edition of their Ultra Facial Cream – the world’s favourite moisturizer – and 100% net proceeds from which will go straight to the Teach For India charity, to educate underprivileged children across the country.
The special edition designed bottle echoes with the sentiment to “give where you live” to eliminate educational inequality in India. Purchasing 10 jars of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream will help bring excellent education to 1 child in a Teach For India classroom for 1 year.
I was present for the launch at the brand’s Quest Mall outlet, and it was fun to meet up with old friends, although it was quite a crush, since the place was completely jam-packed. I spoke with designer Pranay Baidya, who is a dedicated fan of the brand, and he talked about the initiative, and how he was glad to be a part. He felt it was a great way to give back, and it truly helps the cause of underprivileged children.
I also spoke with designer Lopamudra Mondal Saha, who talked about the importance of this kind of initiative. She felt it was a good start for the brand, and should be encouraged.
Raima Sen was excited to be a part of the project, because she felt that lack of education was one of the primary issues which our country faces, and it is good to know that a brand is trying its best to promote it, especially to those who don’t have easy access to it. The event was a great way to attract attention, and to bring to limelight the virtues of giving.
Disclaimer: Poorna Banerjee was invited to the event by the brand.
