Himalaya Herbals have recently come up with two new kinds of lip balms, which are priced reasonably at INR 125/- each for 4.5 gm. of the product. There are two ranges here – the cocoa and vanilla flavours deliver nourishment to your lips, while the litchi, strawberry and peach flavours add a hint of colour.
What Himalaya Says about the Lip Balms:
Our luxurious lip balm moisturizes your lips to keep them soft and supple. The moisture-retention formula with skin soothers makes your lips naturally glossy while the antioxidants and natural actives care for your lips by protecting them from environmental damage. Enriched with 100% natural color, Vitamin E and antioxidants, Himalaya Herbals Lip Care is free from preservatives, petroleum jelly, mineral oil and silicone.
I was curious to try out the lip balms as I am a major lip balm hoarder, and love using them. Himalaya claims to be all-natural, and that was one of my drawing points. I noted that the balms had different elements in them – while the Strawberry Shine Lip Balm had Strawberry Seed Oil and Apricot Kernel Oil, the Vanilla one had Vanilla Oil and Castor Oil in it.
I used both Vanilla and Cocoa Lip Care products – I was not too happy about the Vanilla – it didn’t smell like vanilla, although it applied nicely and hydrated my lips. I liked the chocolate more, with a mild chocolate-y aroma which was nice and it was more hydrating on me. Maybe it is just because I thought the smell was more appealing.
Out of the coloured lip balms, my absolute favourite was the Peach Shine, which smelled exactly like peaches, and delivered a light hint of colour without being too glossy about it, which, unfortunately, on my rather pigmented lips, got lost completely, and my lips looked slightly shiny, which was about it. The staying power was only about 2 hours on my lips, but the smell of peaches lingered, which is why I quite liked it and generally use it under the drying matte lipsticks I am fond of. The Strawberry Shine fared better when it came to coloring my lips, but in this area, Litchi Shine was the one where I could really see some hint of colour on my lips, and although I am not too fond of the smell of litchies, this one was used the most.
These are inexpensive and quite nice, and I think the coloured ones are quite what they promise to deliver, which is what I think is their bonus point.
