BEST Thailand Tourist SIM Card – dtac Happy Tourist SIM

I am often asked a very important question by many people who are travelling to Thailand – What SIM Card should I get after going to Thailand?

My answer is simple – go to dtac and ask for the dtac Happy Tourist SIM if you’re going there for a week or so, because it will save you a lot of grief.

You will easily find the dtac counter on 2nd Floor, Gate 7 of Suvanabhumi Airport. At Don Muang Airport, you will find the counter at Arrival Floor, Terminal 1 . If you are directly flying to Phuket International Airport, then look for the dtac counter at Terminal 2. On your way to Koh Samui, you will find the counter at the Arrival Hall, 1st floor. Plus, if you want to buy a local SIM for Thailand while you’re still in India, there are dtac counters at Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata airports.

Now, there are quite a few options to pick from at the dtac counter, but to be honest, the one I always pick is the dtac Happy Tourist SIM because for a short term visit (around 6-8 days), it is the easiest to use, it is quite reasonably priced (I paid 299 baht at the counter) and also is compatible with both Android and iOS. At the airport, all you have to do is hand over your passport and phone, and the helpful people there will install your SIM for you and also tell you how to make a call, both local and international, and help you with connecting to the relevant WiFi hotspots offered by dtac that you can also use in certain public places.

I Found dtac Happy Tourist SIM Really Useful Because:

  1. You can Enjoy 8-day unlimited data with 15 GB at 100 Mbps max speed  – I have to admit, I was very pleasantly surprised when I went on a dive trip to Similan Surin islands, and I could take and upload photos even when I was out there in the open sea thanks to the dtac Happy Tourist SIM. This was really surprising and very impressive, too.
  2. Make unlimited calls for 8 days to dtac network numbers – I took 100% advantage of this during my trip with a friend. We both wanted to do different things – I was all for dives and trips to the ocean and she wanted to shop. But, we could talk over the phone easily, discussing dinner plans, etc. We also called Uber and Grab and gave drivers our clear location thanks to unlimited calling facility.
  3. Use free chat on 5 applications for 8 days – this facility by dtac Happy Tourist SIM was very useful for me because I could not stay away from work, and I had to answer everything via chat since my Indian phone was switched off, and I had to stay in touch with my work to keep an eye on thing.
  4. Free 15-baht call credit – calls to India had to be made from time to time, and this was really useful to call someone quickly and get some work done, even when I was travelling. It really helped keeping everything in perspective and gave me the reassurance that I could reach anyone at a moment’s notice. You can also easily top up credits once they are exhausted by going to a Family Mart or 7/11.
  5. Call back to india at special rate from 0.6 baht / minute.
  6. Get special privileges at shops and restaurants nationwide – From McDonalds to Panthai Coffee, if you check out the offers segment at the www.dtac.co.th/s/touristsim , you can seriously score big with some great discounts on food and beverages.

So, all and all, you have to admit that these are really beneficial things, and having used the product extensively, I can happily say that I am quite satisfied with the data speed and multiple functionalities of the dtac Happy Tourist SIM that can help make your leisure trip to Thailand a very good one. The next time you’re travelling there, keep an eye out for a dtac counter to get one and enjoy the benefits!
