L’Oreal La Vie En Rose Collection features 7 beautiful Moist Matte Lipsticks, 5 Extraordinaire Matte Liquid Lipsticks, and 4 nail paints, and are available in L’Oreal counters as well as at Nykaa. I was testing a few products I have received from the range, and I have to say, I have some mixed feelings about the range. I am overall positive, I daresay, and here’s my take on the products.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Star Vernis Pink Aishwarya:
This is a gorgeous hot pink which is extremely wearable. These nail paints are priced at INR 299/- and I would say this is great value for money, as two coats bring opacity. I was not hoping much from the formula, but what do you know, the colour truly stood out for me, and looked amazing on my nails. The brush is perfect – it is flat but with a bit of an angle which makes wearing the polish super easy and delivers the paint to the corners which are otherwise hard-to-reach by a clutz like me.
I took the photo after three days of wearing the nail paint (2 coats) and I was impressed by its staying power – it did not chip during the first four days, and stayed on for a good period of time. A great nail polish which screams the season of summer and spring, and I can see myself wearing this a lot.
L’Oreal Moist Matte Lipsticks in Eva’s and Liya’s Delicate Rose:
I was most excited about the moist matte lipsticks (INR 995/-), and these did not disappoint. I had previously swatched the products in-store, and loved both Eva’s and Liya’s Delicate Rose, because in these, the pearlized quality of the lipsticks sort of stood out.
Eva’s Delicate Rose is a very wearable everyday peachy pink shade which has subtle golden and pink pearlized finish. The texture of the lipstick is soft and moisturising, and it glides on easily. The lipstick is semi-opaque after two swipes, and the colour is buildable, but it doesn’t completely hide pigmentation on my lips, so if you are looking for a true matte, this isn’t it. I love the way the colour settles down after a while, and looks matte but not lip-crackingly so, and is great as a day shade, especially if I am not in the mood to wear too much makeup. A great colour for office goers, and would suit light to medium skin tone.
L’Oreal La Vie En Rose Swatches
Liya’s Delicate Rose is a gorgeous semi-opaque shade of blue-based fuchsia pink, and it is a bright, happy colour with gold and fuchsia pearls, which is very visible in the lip swatches. The colour glided on easily, was moisturising, stayed on for a good four hours before fading, and did not bleed or flake. I wore it for 5 hours and it didn’t fade much. It did fade unevenly after I ate a full meal, so reapplication is a good idea. It was, like Eva’s Rose, semi-opaque, but had much better pigmentation (in fact the best pigmentation of the lot). I was quite happy with this one, and will be wearing this shade pretty often.
L’Oreal Extraordinaire Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Azalea (Sonam) and Magnolia (Julianne):
I was also looking forward to the liquid lipsticks (INR 950/-), and I have to say, these were slightly disappointing for me. The formula was moisturising, but these are neither matte nor very pigmented, which caused some issues while application.
L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Extraordinaire Matte Liquid Lipstick in Azalea (Sonam’s Pink) came in a nice matte black package. It is a hot, vibrant pink, which promises a lot, but doesn’t fully live up to the claims of being matte. It also was quite patchy during application, and needed to be applied very carefully. Also, this faded unevenly, didn’t last more than 3-4 hours in total, and went away completely after I ate a light meal.
L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Extraordinaire Matte Liquid Lipstick in Magnolia (Julianne’s Pink) was a nice shade of purple pink, which looked quite dark in the bottle, but when applied, it was much lighter. I can safely see myself wear this colour for a number of occasions, and it is a very wearable shade which has grape and plum undertones, and a tiny bit of glitter to bring everything together. A great shade for the night this had to be applied quite carefully, as it went on unevenly at first, but when I used the applicator to spread it out, the colour no longer looked patchy. It wore for 4-5 hours, and faded unevenly after a meal, so reapplication is a good idea after you have eaten something. There was no feathering, but the colour did bleed slightly, so lining the lips is a good idea.
Overall, the collection does have some great colours which is perfect for the upcoming summer season, and I can safely say that pinks are coming up majorly this year (thanks to the Pantone Colour of the year Rose Quartz).
