Discussing Seasonal Complications, Common Diseases, and Health with Dr. Pratip Banerji, Homeopath

A few days ago, I was invited to visit Dr. Pratip Banerji at his clinic to discuss the current Covid-19 situation and what we can do to stay safe. Dr. Pratip Banerji is an eminent homeopath and a pioneer in integrating practical homeopathic treatment and his research in homeopathy deemed acceptable by contemporary medical research standards. Dr. Pratip Banerji has been consulting patients online since lockdown. But, he made sure that the medicine counter of his clinic (10/3/1 Elgin Road), is open every single day since the 6^th of April 2020.  He also ensured that a very able team of doctors are attending to free helplines for the patients. This was done keeping in mind the cancer patients and all others who are under the treatment with various ailments. 

The Out Patient Department (OPD) will now be open at Elgin Road, from the 10th of August 2020,  with proper safety barriers and sanitization.

Strict rules of sanitisation and hygiene, as directed by the Government of West Bengal’s Health Department, are being followed stringently.  Patients who have been coming  for medicines are guided by the staff on the things they can do, and the ones they cannot, in combating COVID-19’ for the entire duration of their stay at the clinic. This has reassured both patients, the doctors and staff of their safety in the current situation.

About Dr. Pratip Banerji

Dr. Banerji is the Managing Trustee of PBHRF which was established in the year 1993 along with his father Dr. Prasanta Banerji. He presently runs two clinics in Kolkata and works tirelessly towards attaining the goal to make homeopathy the medicine of the masses. A Brief Discussion with Dr. Pratip Banerji

I met Dr. Pratip Banerji at his clinic, and spoke to him about dealing with the pandemic. From the long discussion that we had here on Facebook live, the major takeaway points that I had were as follows:

1. In these times, the most important thing to do is not panic. Even though there is a great deal of information being disseminated on Covid-19 and its malevolence a, lot of the material is guess work and most of the statistical data is incorrect.
2. Normal precautions, like masks, in the market place, with frequent washing of hands and sparing use of an alcohol-based sanitiser should be sufficient to keep us safe. Unnecessary fear is to be guarded against.
3. The only way to prevail against this virus, is to develop immunity against it, and this will happen when herd immunity develops in the population.
4. Homeopathic medicines work by increasing or correcting the immune system. Due to this reason, it is all the more relevant to use this as a tool in the current scenario.
5. Dr Pratip Banerji recommends the homeopathic medicine Thuja occidentallis 30c, to be taken twice a day for a week, then twice a week for three weeks, as immunity booster against viral diseases.
6. Apart from Covid-19, there are several other seasonal diseases that are just as alarming, such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya, influenza, etc. These have similar symptoms and can also prove to be serious. So, if someone feels feverish and sick, it is definitely a good idea to consult a doctor.
7. Dr. Pratip Banerji plans to continue video conferencing for his patients who are unable to travel, and also allot some time of the day to the OPD with his team.
8. The OPD (Out Patient Department) will be open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, except on Sundays and Total Lockdown days. Here patients will be seen on first come first served basis.
