A few days ago, I was talking about the way I serve Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve at the parties I throw, or when I bring friends over. Well, one of the questions about the drink was simple – apart from the simple appetizers, how can you actually pair food with it?
One individual sent me a list of things he wanted to serve with this drink. Although I share his enthusiasm for drinking a good glass of finely made blended whiskey with my dinner, I would not go as far as he went.
So what are the things I like serving with Black Dog TGR?
Well, I have to say, there are a lot of things I love serving, but let us stick to the palate of the Indian Non Vegetarian food lover. Indian food is spicy, and I personally feel that sometimes, overly spicy food can overwhelm the taste of a good whiskey. However, here are a few things in starters which go beautifully with Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve.
Chicken Kababs – I love eating Chicken Malai Kabab, Tandoori, Hariyali Kabab, Tikka Kabab, and Reshmi Kabab with TGR. The smoothness of whiskey offsets the meat very well, and I prefer the kababs not too heavy on the spices.
Eggs – Be it a simple curry, the parsi akoori, or a well-seasoned gravy with cashews and pistas, eggs go wonderfully with this drink.
Mutton – Whether cooked in simple gravy, or a complex rogan josh, or a melt-in-your-mouth burrah kabab, a well-cooked dish of mutton is perfect as an accompaniment to this whiskey.
White, flaky fish, fried with spices–This one is a particular favorite of the house – fried or baked white, flaky fish. We especially adore bekti, pomphretand rohu. They taste great and are good for your body too!
So these are some of the best non-vegetarian items that go well with Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve.
