Making Mocktails at the Typhoo Stall, The India Story and Making Earl Grey Zing

I love mixing drinks, and the last couple of years I have been mixing it up at the Typhoo stall at The India Story, creating drinks that can be easily assembled, and duly spiked to make things interesting. This year, I wanted to play with Typhoo’s Earl Grey tea, and I was thinking about how not to make it too citrus-laden, but still have a lovely zing.

The Typhoo Stall at The India Story was equipped with quite a few interesting drinks. Whether you want it hot or cold, they had an array of teas to suit different taste buds. I was impressed by the wide array of tea selection, and the combinations that can be achieved rather easily.

This drink is quite easy to prepare – it can also be had either hot or cold.

Earl Grey Zing

Start by brewing a cup of Earl Grey Tea. Add a single Typhoo Earl Grey tea bag to 200 ml. piping hot water and steep for three minutes. Remove the tea bag. Add a teaspoon of sugar. Mix well till the sugar dissolves.

In a glass, add some ice. Since it was winter, I skipped it when I made it at home, but I highly recommend that during summers. Pour 100 ml. of the tea into the glass. Add 50 ml. mosambi juice and stir it in. Top with 50 ml. orange soda, and stir that in lightly. Serve cold.

Spike this up with a large shot of gin or vodka. That way, your Earl Grey Zing will REALLY pack a punch.

  1. I love this idea! The cold weather and cold season has really made me appreciate hot tea so much. I will definitely have to try this.
