A few days ago, my best friend and I were planning a trip to Vietnam, of all places. Now, you might want to ask “Why Vietnam?”
And I would tell you that the place doesn’t matter. The question “why” is immaterial, because traveling to the place would bring me a lot of pleasure. Just think – I can reach somewhere central like Singapore, and from there hitch my way to Vietnam, or just take whatever comes in mind! I don’t have a plan when I travel – I never did. I always traveled because I needed to.
I still do.
I run away sometimes and just stay away. It does not matter as long its not the familiar, with which I rub shoulders every day.
I like that.
And if you are smart like me, you would travel light, take only what’s necessary. Your passport, a little kit of essentials, containing, among other things, a bottle of liquid soap, a pack of wipes, sunscreen, a kohl pencil, a toothbrush, and a deo. Because you would not want to be the one who smells, right? And Buzz Luhrmann said that everybody’s free to wear sunscreen. And maybe a diary and a pen. Because you want to write those moments down that you can never capture with your camera. All you need to take back are those moments and those memories.
And that’s all, folks. Clothes? You can buy clothes. But you need to carry a soul.
Carry one.
