The Four Major Irish Scotch Distillery Regions and their Best Blend in TGR

Traditionally, there were four major Scottish regions which had different types of whiskeys. These four regions were as follows – The Highlands, Lowland, Islay, and Campbeltown. In time, Speyside also joined in, because of the geographic location which favored the growth of distilleries there. In them, apparently, Campbeltown was taken off the list of regions a few years ago, but then, it was again installed as a production region a few years back, because of a number of reasons. Once a major distillery region with over 30 distilleries, now Campbeltown has only about three major ones, including Glen Scotia, Springbank and Glengyle.
On the other hand, Speyside, which is also the famous Spey river valley that is located in North-East Scotland, has a considerable number of distilleries situated there. Apparently, nearly half of the major distilleries are situated here (around 105 when counted in 2013), and it is thus known as a separate region from the rest. Speyside has places like Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Speyburn, The Glenlivet, Glenrothes, among its many popular names.
Lowland at present have very few distilleries, but the ones that are still available there are quite popular – Bladnoch, Glenkinchie and Auchentoshan being three major names there.  On the other hand, Islay fares pretty well with a number of popular distilleries located in the region, like Bowmone, Caol Ila, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. However, the Highland region is the house of arguably some of the best distilleries, including Oban, Old Pulterney, Ben Navis, Dalmore, Glen Ord, and Balblair.
Each of these regions has their own set of flavor palate and tastes, but what happens when some of their best features get married into a fine blend that tastes absolutely divine? All individual characteristics of the four whiskey producing regions in Scotland are meticulously married in Triple Gold Reserve, and that is something we love. The smoothness, the rounded flavors, and the unforgettable taste is what we love of TGR, and it is truly a gorgeous blend when all the flavors come together.
