The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter, Body Splash, and Body Scrub Review

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Range consists of the Virgin Mojito Body Butter, Body Scrub, Body Sorbet, Body Splash, and Shower Gel. The range is dedicated to the lime and mint-laden Mojito, which, in its non-alcoholic form, is a great summer cooler. I was quite interested when this range launched abroad, and although it came pretty late to India (when winter is just around the corner), I am happy to see the limited edition range in the store. So, when the lovely S asked me to review a few products from the range, I was more than happy to oblige. I have been using the products for the last few days, and here’s what I think of them.

TBS Virgin Mojito
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter (1095/- for 200 ml.) comes in the standard TBS Body butter package, and has a thick texture. It smells, in one word, scrumptious. Every time I apply it, for some reason, I am reminded of the lemon tarts that I love from Flurys, and the need to eat tangy, citrus-laden desserts. The cream is pretty thick, pale lemon in colour, and takes care of my skin very well, which is drying up in anticipation of the upcoming winter. The smell is mild, and remains on my skin for about 1-2 hours after application, more if I have applied it right after taking a bath. It does not break me out, or make my skin itch (that has happened!), so I guess I would give this a thumbs up.

TBS Virgin Mojito Body Splash

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Splash (1395/- for 300 ml.) is one of the new entrants in the brand’s products. Moving away from EDTs and Body Mists, the Body Splash is meant to be taken into palm of your hands, and applied as required. This has a clean, strong smell of lime, with a hint of mint. Although the concept is lovely, and the product certainly smells good on me, the lasting power of this on my skin is just about 2-3 hours, so I have to carry the rather cumbersome bottle around if I am out for more than a few hours.

It lasts longer on my clothes though, and contains alcohol, but that does not mean you take a swig out of the bottle (this alcohol is not for consumption, just in case you get the hot idea to try it out for an alcoholic hit), although, you would be tempted to, especially if you love lime-laden drinks. Again, a great product for the hot summer season, and I guess I will use this sparingly, and reserve it for next summer (although its going to be a long five-month wait).

I think the product I was looking forward to the most from the range was The Body Shop Virgin Mojito  Body Scrub (1295/- for 250 ml.) . I smelled it at the counter, and loved the hit of lemon it provided – so refreshing! It would have been a treat to have this during the hot, humid summer months, I daresay. Anyway, the product comes in a tub, but does not come with a spatula, so I use my own becaus I am slightly paranoid about hygiene (same with the body butter, by the way). Please start thinking about adding a spatula to products like Body Butters and Body Scrubs, TBS! This would help us a lot!

The Virgin Mojito Body Scrub is perfect for spreading over your skin, and the micro-granules are really fine, and definitely not harsh on my skin. I use it extensively on my feet, and on my elbows, and the granules work well to exfoliate my skin, and leave it squeaky clean. I find it slightly drying, though, and so, after my bath, slathering myself with the body butter has become a habit.

The smell does not last very long on my skin though, but that’s okay, since it lends a lovely aroma in the bathroom, which lingers for a while afterwards.

Overall, I feel that The Body Shop has come up with a great range, and it would be perfect during the hot summer, so it would be great if the products are re-launched next year during that time. I find the range quite nice, and would happily recommend to citrus lovers. I also recently gave away some of the wonderful Virgin Mojito goodies to my followers on Instagram, and, if you want to stay updated and take part in current and upcoming contests and giveaways, follow my account @panushwari.
