Mixing Tea-based Drinks with Typhoo at India Story, 2016

My social media profiles were flooded with news of India Story last month, and I have to admit, I had a heck of a time participating. I received an invite to create a set of drinks in the Typhoo Stall at India Story, and I was happy to do so. The stall was manned by members from the team, and I created two different drinks with the aid of the products available. The drinks were savoured by members of the audience, and I had a lovely time chatting about the brand.

Typhoo is Great Britain’s favourite tea brand and now it is available in India. They offer over 25 tea flavours & fruit infusions and its really interesting to see some of the popular blends. At the stall I also found a few flavours of tea, including a few types of refreshing Iced Teas as well as hot teas.

The drinks I made were done using different flavours of tea. I was so busy mixing drinks, I completely fogot I was being photographed, and here is one I liked from Typhoo’s Twitter page.  I am adding a recipe of my favourite of the two, which infuses grapes and star anise with green tea.

Green Tea Anibar:

For 2 tall drinks:

12-15 Green Grapes

2 Typhoo Green Tea Bags

2 Star Anise

1 tablespoon Sugar

100 ml. Plain Soda

100 ml. Sprite (If you like it sweeter, add Sprite)

300 ml. Water

Ice

Procedure:

  1. Macerate the grapes with the sugar and star anise and 1-2 tablespoons of water. Leave aside for at least 1 hour for the flavours to mingle. I prefer keeping this overnight (I often use 60 ml. vodka in water’s place if I want to make it boozy).
  2. Half an hour before serving, heat the water and add the green tea bags in it. Let steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bags and let the water cool.
  3. In a glass, put half of the grape concoction, and add half of the prepared green tea. Mix well.
  4. Add some ice and pour in half of the soda and sprite to top the drink, mixing gently.
  5. Serve.
