Summer Special Coolers and Ice Lollies at Cafe Pranah, Ballygunge

We greedily stare at the mini-lollies as R puts them daintily in a single plastic container. D has her eyes on the red one, I want the green. A is mildly confused – trying to pick a favourite. But when you have so many new flavours, Aam ka Panna, Wild berry n lemon (sugar free), Watermelon and Mint, Muskmelon n Ginger, Mango with basil seeds and Masala Mojito, then you are bound to be confused.

My favourite of the lot is the Masala Mojito, with the tang of lime chased down with the cool ice – its something I can slurp on all summer. D is more into the Muskmelon and Ginger – and I swear if A could make a decision, he would probably veer towards the Watermelon and Mint, because he kept on going back to it. Priced at INR 79/- each, these are fabulous cold treats on a hot summer afternoon, especially now that the temperature has suddenly shot up.

But then there are a plethora of coolers too! Starting from the Bel ka panna to the rather unique Aam Porar Shorbot, the coolers are refreshing, to say the very least (I would be using this word many, many times in association with the coolers, but please bear with me here). I am, however, stuck between the Panakka, with the aroma of cinnamon and cardamom and sweetness from Jaggery, or the rather mild yet pleasantly tangy Lemon Barley Masala, which takes the edge off your rough day, soothing your soul and your body too! But the most unique flavour is probably the Hibiscus drink, that is, the Gurhal ki Chai, made with a syrup of fresh Hibiscus flowers, and a delight for those who love mild, floral drinks which are lightly sweetened.

Priced at INR 139/- the summer coolers are here for a short time, and grab hold of them before the 15th of June, which is when these go out of season. The Summer Coolers and Ice Lollies at Cafe Pranah are really amazing for those who want something soothing and good for them. Have you tried one yet?
