Smartness is All: My experience with a Smartphone

I am technologically challenged. I must admit, till about June last year, I had no clue about them, and I avoided terms like “Whatsapp”, “Snapchat”, “Hayday” like the plague. To me, a phone was for receiving calls and text messages, and that was about it.

But then, my best friend told me that I was really missing out, and I needed to upgrade my system. I was using an ancient phone (which didn’t even have a camera), and she berated me and forced me to buy a new phone.

So, I decided to take the plunge, and buy the Moto E, which was the best budget smartphone in that range, according to my friend. The reason why I bought it? Simple – it was what virtually every friend of mine had recommended, when I asked for their opinion.

I ordered it from Flipkart, and it was delivered to me within a couple of days. Having never used a touchscreen before, I was pretty apprehensive about my phone, but then, I decided to take the plunge.

Although in the beginning, I was not really sure what I was doing, soon after I downloaded different apps, I realized that my phone could do a large number of things. Most specifically, it could navigate for me, and talk to me when I was working. It has a system through which you can make sure the phone tells you who is calling or texting you. It really helped when I was working, since I generally like keeping my phone silent. Rather than disturbing me with a ringtone, the phone crisply announced that “xyz” was calling me. In case my phone had no clue who it was, it would repeat the number from which the phone call was coming,

But I have to say, apart from the fact that I could download and play a lot of games which loaded up super fast, I was in love with the navigation system of this phone. It has a navigation system which is really efficient, and I used it on my trips to different cities as well as in my own, and it came up trumps most of the time. My friend was quite annoyed to see his expensive Smartphone refusing to load a map, and by the time he had loaded it, I had navigated my way through a few short cuts to reach my destination.

Being a budget phone, at the price, Moto E was a steal, and in the last few months, I have slowly come to realize that I cannot really live without my phone, and yes, shameful as it might sound, I actually love my phone to bits, and don’t think I can ever go back to normal phones again. When I started using the phone, I was unsure, but the vivid graphical display, large screen space, ease of navigation won me over. Now I have to say, I #ChooseToStart my day with my Smartphone, and well, before I sleep, I am guilty of checking my Facebook with it.
