The city counts down the days, the hours, the minutes, the seconds, and looks forward.
The city waits with bated breath for the moment when the cover is taken off her face.
The city waits for her to come down every year from her frosty recesses, and fill it with love and light.
The city waits for the five days that matter.
And then, the city dances. The city laughs. The city lets go of all its pain, the random moments of hurt, and immerses itself in the happiness that comes with being alive.
The city becomes joy.
When she comes to town, we forget ourselves. We forget who we are, where we are from, what we were supposed to do. We slow down, sit together, talk, laugh, eat, and thank her for giving us hope.
We thank her for her grace, her glory, her spirit, and follow her footsteps.
In my neighborhood, the elders ensure that no one stays hungry. No one feel left out. We wear new clothes, give new clothes, and feed whoever we can find. We try our best to share the joy, because that is the essence of Durga Puja.
But I know, not everywhere is the same. Even as I look at the happiness around me, I know that in other parts of the city, children and adults might be suffering, might feel left out. And that is where you can contribute. You can help bring joy.
Vivel and Dev will celebrate the onset of Durga Puja with impoverished and underprivileged children, by taking them around the city to see some of the biggest Pujo Pandals. This would probably be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some of them, and it is a lovely initiative taken up by the brand.
Can you be of help?
Yes.
You too can spread a smile and be a part of Vivel Pujo Love. Just click a selfie with a child, share it on Vivel’s timeline to commit to spreading pujo love this season. Use the hashtag #VivelPujoLove to promote this campaign and bring happiness to others.
