I came back from Hyderabad with incredible food memories and a few extra pounds. I wasn’t too unhappy about the pounds, but then I realized that they took a toll on the body, and made me feel sluggish at all odd times. I talked to a friend, and he confirmed that one of the few things that virtually EVERY diets agree on is cutting down or eliminating sugar from your diet. In fact, he went on to say that sugar gives you a false sense of security and happiness when consumed, because of the quick rise in blood sugar. That is why it is imperative to consume sugar as little as possible.
I have been guilty of eating chocolates to pick myself up from a bad day, or after a rough night at work, or when I have been going through an emotional period of time.
I have been guilty of chugging down insane amounts of sugary stuff because I “felt” like it.
I have been guilty of physically feeling sick because my blood sugar levels fell, and as a result of which, I fainted.
I do not want to end up being sugar-happy. I want to be happy without it.
So, from today (7th March 2013) to next Friday (14th March 2013), I will be taking a week-long “Say No to Sugar” challenge. That would mean cutting off everything that is sugary/or contains sugar in it. I will be, of course, consuming copious amounts of other kind of food to combat that, but I want to see if I can make myself not eat sugar for the next week.
Wish me luck.
Of course, on that note, I would also like to add that for the next seven days, I will be blogging about some of the meals I would be eating during this time, and if anyone wants to join in, the time is NOW.
Come join me. Or set your own date. This is for you!
XOXO
Poorna
