Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks are available online at many places, including Nykaa, and are priced at INR 599/- for 4.5 gm.
I have been in love with Revlon products for a very long time, especially their Super Lustrous Lipstick range, and as winter is coming (yes, yes, start the ominous music right now!), my lips are sick and tired of too-dry lipsticks and are sort of desperate for a bit of cream. I picked up these two shades recently, where one is a repurchase – a classic favourite which has its own cult following, and yes, the perfume range the brand has is inspired by this lipstick.
Revlon Says about the Super Lustrous Lipstick Range:
For seven decades, women everywhere have indulged in the bold, luxurious shades of our most iconic lipstick. Super Lustrous™ creates unforgettably seductive lip color in four finishes — crème, matte, pearl, and sheer — and is available in 82 vibrant shades. The legacy lives on.
My Experience:
I picked up two shades from the brand – Teak Rose and Fire & Ice. Fire & Ice is a repurchase – I remember getting it a few years ago, and absolutely loving the creamy texture of the red, but during the summer, that lipstick had a horrible habit of bleeding, so, I reserved it for winter. And this shade is an excellent winterwear shade, if I may say so. I picked both lipsticks from the creme finish, because I wanted them to hydrate my lips, and they do.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Teak Rose
Revlon Teak Rose is a lovely warm pink with tinges of brown in it. It is a great shade for Fall 2016, because it is sort of rose-quartz inspired, but can sit very well on women who want it subtle but obvious. Its a great colour to wear through the day. After the initial couple of hours, the lipstick settles down to become a pink stain on your lips, and the natural glow it gives is what you would love. I am teaming this up with some brown kohl and highlighter for daytime, and its working out really well for me, especially on business meets.
The colour does have a tendency to bleed a bit, so it is a good idea to not wear any balm under it – its very hydrating, and actually is plumping up my lips. I love the aftereffect – the stain is very natural – it is indeed a shade just a couple of notches below my natural lip colour, and the finish is semi-opaque. The shade does have a tendency to transfer, so reapplication is a must afterwards, but I don’t mind.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice
I have a thing for this colour – it can instantly make your face brighter and warm – I posted a photo on my instagram story the other day (follow me at panushwari if you haven’t already), and I kid you not, I got at least 5 queries about the lip colour. The colour is a bright coral red which can be used as a stain, or applied full-on for a stunning slash of colour on your face. I have this habit of wearing just black kohl with this lipstick, and making sure my skin looks as fresh as possible – otherwise, the beauty of this shade is sort of lost.
Okay, now here is the thing. This colour is difficult to work with – it stains, it bleeds, and it is not fully opaque till you have applied at least 2 layers. However, once applied, its such a bright burst of colour, that you would realize that whatever you did for it was totally worth it, because after you put it on, you naturally feel more confident. Or is that just me?
Although I know that this year its all about dark colours, I sort of love this bright shade of red back from 1952, which I will be wearing through the season. Its a great way to cheer me up and improve my mood in the foggy, gloomy season. What’s your pick? What lipsticks are you crushing on this season?
