So recently, the Jabong Sale was on, and it was difficult to resist the offers which were going on. To cut a long story short, I bought a couple of things – okay, fine, more than two, but well, in my defence, I NEEDED them. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick (shade 815) in Fuchsia Shock was one of the purchases, and I am currently using it pretty extensively.
The Super Lustrous Lipstick Range from Revlon is one of the oldest lipstick ranges, and some of the shades date back to the 1950s. Revlon has improved upon the original formula constantly, but the shades have remained the same, like Fire and Ice, a classic red. I personally find this range to be versatile and there’s something for every type, I feel. At 599/- for 4.2 gm. I find that the pricing is quite perfect.
The packaging of all Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks is the same – black and gold with a transparent top to see the colour of the product from outside. I have been in love with Revlon’s Matte range, and now, as it is discontinued, I have been guilty of buying a few from this range. I like the fact that the package is very travel-friendly and sturdy, and can be carried around virtually anywhere.
This Revlon Lipstick is part of their ‘shine’ range, which was launched a while back. True to its name, the range has a shiny, semi-sheer finish, not unlike the ‘Lustre’ range from MAC. Fuchsia Shock looks scarily pink in the tube, but the colour is actually very mellow, and quite wearable. It glides on easily on my lips, without tugging or flaking, but yes, it does bleed very slightly, so applying it carefully is a must.
I applied one swipe, and it settled on my lips as a semi-sheer creamy pink without shimmers or glitters. After multiple swipes, the colour became semi-opaque, and stayed put for three hours. While they can certainly do with more lasting power, I don’t find that to be much of a problem, since I have no issue reapplying. It is quite nice on Indian skin tone – in fact, medium to fair skin tones can use it with ease.
I find the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fuchsia Shock to be a great colour for those who are not too keen on Matte lipsticks, and would like a lustrous finish. This colour is very hydrating (one step away from a lip balm), and will last for 3 hours or so without fading, if you don’t eat or drink. At its price, its a steal, so check out other colours from the same range.
