No, you guys have seen the photos. You guys know.
But in my defense, I must say, I never claimed to be one. In fact, I have never thought of being one.
When I took up food blogging, I just wanted to talk about food. I really did not care about the pictures and how it looked, as long as it tasted good.
But then, I faced a very real dilemma.
PRESENTATION.
Oh, dear lord. Presentation started to be the be-all and end-all of food blogging. No matter how it tasted, it had to look good. I paid attention to fellow bloggers’ works – brilliant photographs.
And I felt inadequate somehow.
Luckily, I know that help is always there when you need it. For example, Borosil. For years, I have adored their glassware, especially their ovenware. My first oven-toaster-grill came with a couple of beautiful Borosil bake-n-serve plates, and I loved them to bits. Over time, my collection has grown, to the point where most of my ovenware and microwave ware are from the brand.
The other day, I was cooking meat. Now meat, for me, is a religion of its own. I love meat. I worship it. It is the most beautiful thing I have laid my eyes on.
If only other people thought so. But when I removed the large pot of Mutton Kaliya from the fire, I realized, I had nothing to make it look good. Frantically, I looked around for something suitable enough for this dish which tastes incredible.
But I saw nothing.
Then all of a sudden, I remembered my favorite Borosil bowl. I took it out from the shelf, and scooped a few pieces of meat in it, along with some of the delectable gravy, smelling faintly of star anise and cinnamon.
I added a star anise that I found floating aimlessly on the soupy gravy.
And then, all I had to do was point my very basic camera at it, and take a picture. And when I saw the result, I was glad.
By the time I had finished taking picture, the bowl of meat was cold. I popped the bowl back in the microwave, heated it up for a bit, and then sat down in front of the television, savoring the hot meat with a couple of slices of bread, enjoying my success.
