Mother’s Day Special Menu at The GT Route, May 7th-14th, 2016

Mothers cannot be celebrated just for a day, which is why, The GT Route of Jameson Inn, Shiraz, has come up with a quite nice special menu for lunch and dinner. I had a chat with the Chef, and he spoke about the items which were the highlights.

“We specifically tried to keep a menu which would have some nice, spicy kababs and fritters, but also some Bengali favourites,” Chef Rupam commented.

Out of the menu, I tried out a few of the dishes, including the succulent Burrah Kabab, which was soft and moist, and charred to lend smokey flavours to the meat. A glass of Ananas Panna came with it, a tall glass of pineapples lightly charred before they were juiced. I thought the pairing was pretty well done and quite refreshing.

In the main course, there are a number of choices – a succulent looking Nalli Nihaari and Lahori Gosht for the non-vegetarian crowd, while the vegetarians can take their pick from the Dhokar Dalna or Dal Dum Niyazi.

I, however, was looking forward to the special mutton biryani, served with a side of Raita, and it didn’t disappoint. Unlike most places around Kolkata, this biryani was light and fluffy, served with a bowl of simply made raita. The texture of the biryani was moist, but that had been achieved without the aid of Dalda, with tender shanks of meat, eggs and potatoes.

Dessert was some tasty Kesar Pista Firni, and some Shahi Tukda was sent our way as well. The special menu would be served during lunch and dinner hours (12 pm to 4 pm, and 7 pm to 11 pm) at The GT Route between 7th to 14th May, 2016, and the menu is priced specially for mother/son or mother/daughter combination at 800/- plus tax.

Disclaimer: Poorna Banerjee was invited to GT Route for tasting the menu.
