Mamma Mia! Presents Super Sorbet Festival

Mamma Mia! recently celebrated a sorbet degustation with a plethora of pretty flavours of sorbet perfect for summer. The flavours included Watermelon and Mint, Grilled Pineapple, Rose and Lychee,  Blood Orange and Pomegranate, Mandarin Orange Basil, Alphonso Super Sorbet, and the ever-favourite, Sicily Lemon. I have fond memories of eating the Sicily Lemon sorbet on a hot summer day with my best friend nearly a decade ago, so well, I wasn’t complaining.

The launch was attended by Damiano Francovigh, Consulate General of Italy, Kolkata, and noted hair stylist Raman Bharadwaj among others, and I decided to taste the new flavours. While watermelon lovers would adore the Watermelon and Mint flavour, and the Rose and Lychee was certainly an unusual combination (I didn’t think it would work, but surprisingly, it did!), I was more inclined towards the light and fluffy texture of the Blood Orange and Pomegranate flavour, which was tart, sweet, and melted delightfully on my tongue, the orange prominent at first, with the pomegranate subtle but present.

I was more interested in the Alphonso Super Sorbet, which promised to have an intense concentration of Alphonso mangoes in it, and, true to its form, it didn’t melt as quickly as the rest, and was quite intensely mango. The texture was almost creamy, although this sorbet was completely dairy-free. I had a rather fun time trying on other flavours as well, but I kept on going back to the Alphonso Mango.

The super sorbet festival would continue till August, and these flavours are available, starting from INR 69/- plus taxes per scoop of sorbet. If you have tried these, let me know which ones you liked!

Disclaimer: Poorna Banerjee was invited to the festival by the brand.
