The Lithuanian Experience: A Beautiful Exhibition of Photos by Kounteya Sinha

A few days ago, I received an invite to attend a rather wonderful event – Kounteya Sinha was displaying a series of photographs which he had taken in the beautiful country of Lithuania, and as I thrive in the vicarious pleasure of seeing the world from another’s eyes, I decided to spend some time viewing the rather magnificent sights and sounds of Lithuania.

At the event (held at Taj Bengal) I met with the Honorary Consul for Eastern and North Eastern India, Mr. Arvind Sukhani. He was joined by His Excellency, Mr. Laimonas Talat Kelpsa, the Ambassador of Lithuania to India and his wife, Mrs. Alina Taluntyte. The introduction over, we spoke about the country and its beautiful history. I was interested in the food, and Mr. Talat Kelpsa spoke about the Lithuanian dinner he had hosted in Delhi, and how he saw the scope of making such events in Kolkata as well.

Of course, the photographs taken by Kounteya Sinha were stunning, and as always, what I like about his photos are possibly the contrast between rich colours and monochrome. There is a story to tell behind each photograph, and the man speaks of them with a deep sense of love and possessiveness which is quite beautiful to behold.

The afternoon ended with good food, wines, meeting new people and getting re-acquainted with some known faces. Among them were Saira Shah Halim, Lopamudra Saha and Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee.
