Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Colors are available at Nykaa and Amazon and these are priced at INR 575/- . I have been going through a moisturizing lipstick phrase, but I also love really matte lipsticks, so these couldn’t have come at a better time. As a result, I sort of went through these colours all through the month of December and January and wore them a lot, because I couldn’t really make up my mind about them for a while. However, I’m done being confused, and here’s my verdict.
What the brand says about Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color:
The Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color is the brand’s first ever lip and cheek product in a light weight liquid mousse texture that comes in 10 intense and vibrant shades. It is easy to use, easily blends, and has a great colour payoff. All the shades leave a beautiful dewy tint on the cheeks and gives the lips an opaque matte finish that won’t budge throughout the day. Use the soft applicator tip for speedy application and for creating a defined look without looking ‘over done’.
My Take of the Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color:
I’m going to share my opinion about three colours from the brand – the Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color shades I have are Burgundy Lush, Pink Plush and Blush Velvet. The packaging is simple, yet slightly confusing – they all look the same, and so, in a hurry, difficult to locate. They have a simple, sponge-tip applicator with a pointy end, which gives you a good deal of control while application. The idea behind these colours is to use them on both cheeks and lips, and I did that for blush velvet and pink plus a lot. Burgundy Lush was really not my cup of tea for my cheeks, but that’s okay, because its a killer colour on the lips.
While Blush Velvet is a great cool-toned pinky nude on my lips, reminding me slightly of Mac Mehr, Pink Plush is a rather shocking pink, and I don’t know whether I can pull it off. Burgundy Lush is a great colour, and looks very pretty on me. However, if I have to pick a favourite, it has to be Blush Velvet – the pigmentation and the colour in itself works for me – especially when using as a multiple-function product. The pigmentation of all the shades is definitely commendable, but, I do have issues with Pink Plush, which sort of sits on my lips, and needs to be really blended in, unlike the other colours. This is also the colour that blends best on my cheek, so it ended up being a better blush than a lipstick.
In my photo I am wearing Blush Velvet on my lips – sorry about the photo, but that was the best I could do. I do love the fact that this isn’t exactly matte, but has a good deal of moisturizing elements, which doesn’t make my lips flake or feel dry. On the other hand, it doesn’t bleed, but it does transfer, and fades unevenly, so touch ups are required. I do love the colours and would be picking up a couple more shades from the range soon.
