When the Goddess leaves, it is time to say goodbye. And you can cry into your hot chocolate. I won’t mind.

I was sitting inside Indthalia, watching the world rush by on the final day of Durga Puja, and she was sitting opposite me.

“Is that my neighborhood one?” She suddenly said, and looked back, and then looked at me, misery written all over her face, and said, “She’s leaving. No.”

Wisely, I ordered her and me a hot chocolate each.

The hot chocolate came in with a thick pile of chocolate at the bottom, followed by milk, froth, and a pattern of chocolate on top.

“This makes no sense.” She looked at me. “Why would anyone not mix it all up before serving?”

I looked at her, and said prosaically,” This is DIY. The more you mix, the more chocolate-y it gets, so if you don’t like too much chocolate, you can stop stirring at any point.”

“Oooh! DIY! I love DIY!”

And as she stirred, raised the spoon, and licked the end of it, I knew it was bliss all over her face. She went into Zen mode.

Mission accomplished.

The Indthalia Hot Chocolate is INR 48/- (plus tax) and is worth every cent. I will also recommend the cold chocolate which is totally drool-worthy. Also, they have a nice dining section, and snacks include ham toast.
