“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
-Pablo Picasso
When art meets fashion and food, magic is created. This very magic blossomed into The India Story, a brainchild of Madhu Neotia, Abhilasha Sethia and Nil, a curated showcasing of the best from contemporary Indian design. The India Story 2016 (20th to 23rd October) is brought to being by the Neotia Arts Trust, funded by the Ambuja Neotia Group with the aim of generating a space meant exclusively for Indian design aesthetics.
The first chapter, The India Story 2015 was a huge success with a 3-days extravaganza of classic Indian design aesthetics. The second chapter continues the story by promising a showcase that is poised to take design expositions in India to the next level. With more than 100 participants from across India, The India Story 2016 will be a culmination of working with artists and ateliers alongside master craftsmen, thinkers, performers and gourmet food producers from various Indian cities.
The India Story 2016 will also present The India Story Design Awards, an award for recognition of excellence and innovation in the field of design. The categories of awards will be as below:
Product Design
Arts Practice
Textile Craft & Fashion Design

The India Story 2016 is taking shape with a team of artists and curators headed by Nil, Anahita Kayan and Amitra Sudan and aims to narrate a tale of the most eclectic and diverse stories of the land. Present at the preview was the Creative Consultant for this year, Mr Shantanu Moitra who also happened to compose the theme music for The India Story 2016.
