I was recently invited to a special preview of India Spa Week 2016, which is to promote the spa culture of India, and provide customers handpicked top-notch services at a special price. India Spa Week 2016 is a celebration of 10 days of relaxation to usher in the new year. 15 Spas will come together to help people relax in each city. The five major metropolitan cities of India – Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad are participating in this event, and for a complete list, check out their website as well as the facebook page. I picked Evokes Spa for an Aroma massage because I have heard it is a good spa in Kolkata with a range of services, and went over for a relaxing session. After I entered, I was cordially greeted and shown to one of their special spa-rooms, fitted with a Jacuzzi, where I changed and relaxed with a glass of water (I declined the drinks as well as tea/coffee offered) while my masseuse prepared the room and then entered with the aromatherapy oils she was going to use during the session. The room was warm and inviting, with scented candles lending a lovely floral fragrance which really helped me relax.
After Krishna, my masseuse for the session asked me if I had any aches/pains, or anywhere which I wanted emphasis on, she began by rubbing a fragrant oil all over my body, and then proceeded to massage out my kinks. I have to say, she did a great job, especially my knees and my ankle, where an old injury often renders the area stiff and painful, but thanks to her maneuvers, I felt the stiffness totally gone. After the massage, I was asked whether I would like to go into the jacuzzi, but as I was running late, I opted for a shower. A bottle of shower gel and one of shampoo was in the corner (and it would have helped if they were labeled, as they both were blue, and I had to sniff and figure out the difference).
