Craftsvilla.com announces 1 crore prize money for Miss Ethnic

Craftsvilla.com has appointed Kareena Kapoor as the face of its national Miss Ethnic pageant.

Any woman, living anywhere in India, can just send her picture in an ethnic garment and be

eligible. No age limits or statistical limits prescribed.

Monica Gupta, Founder of Craftsvilla.com says, “This is a one-of-a-kind contest that seeks to

acknowledge women, not only for their beauty, but also for their unique ethnic talent. Over one

million entries are expected for the same, over various technology platforms.”

Speaking about her association with the Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic Contest, Kareena Kapoor Khan

said, “What I like about Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic is that it is a celebration of the identity of the

woman. She could be a homemaker who cooks exceptional well; a music teacher or a

dancer. She has to keep ethnic alive in her own way and believe in herself. Craftsvilla Miss

Ethnic, for me, is a strong woman who inspires those around her to give their best.”

How to Participate?

Participating in the contest is just by a click of a button. The participants have to upload their

picture in their ethnic clothes on to missethnic.org or through the Craftsvilla app.

There will be city, state and regional titles given away first.

Ten finalists will be chosen from North, South, East, Central and West for ‘The Craftsvilla Miss

Ethnic India Grand Finale’ where Kareena will crown the  winners. “Though the first shortlist will

be on aesthetic parameters, the subsequent rounds will judge them on their ethnic talents and

their contribution to the society,” adds Monica Gupta, Co-founder of Craftsvilla.com. The last

date for sending the entries is 20th September.

The company will crown a Miss Ethnic, where women all over the country, regardless of their

age and marital status can send pictures in ethnic wear and compete for their city/

state title. “The concept of Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic is to evaluate how a participant applies

Indianness and ethnicity in their everyday life. It is also about believing in yourself and loving

your daily routine,” adds Gupta.

About Craftsvilla.com: India’s ethnic online marketplace Craftsvilla.com is a company admired

for its social impact. With its genesis rooted in the colour and vibrance of intricate work by

artisans in Kutch; who never got compensated commensurate to their skill;  Craftsvilla has

brought the traditionally dis-organized ethnic craft industry on to a structured platform and has

enabled micro-entrepreneurship at a scale not seen in this sector. Today, it is widely accepted

that Craftsvilla.com has firmly taken the mantle of ethnic; to provide access to markets and

livelihoods for craftsmen in the remotest corners of India.
