Over the month of May, I have been talking about the Scotch Whiskey Black Dog, and especially about its latest offering – the gorgeous Triple Gold Reserve, that I have often equated to liquid sunshine. With its flavors, body, and taste, it is indeed a great drink to unwind and relax with, especially when you have friends around. I have served it on numerous occasions, mixed drinks with it, drank it neat in times of need, and celebrated with it.
Black Dog has a beautiful heritage, and over 100 years’ of association with India. This makes the brand really special, because it has always been a part of Indian drinking culture, ever since late 19thCentury. Even after freedom, the brand continued to flourish in India, and in the 1990s was one of the first successful joint ventures from India for alcohol production (from Nashik Region).
What makes Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve a hit in my house is the fact that it’s not too heavy on the palate, but at the same time, not too light and forgettable either. It has got enough notes in it to set it apart from the rest. The aftertaste is also really pleasant – it is not harsh and unpalatable, but rather, very pleasant and leaves the drinker with a lovely set of flavors which sets their palate tingling.
I have mixed it in cocktails – traditional ones as well as the ones which I have concocted, and they have turned out to be pretty nice. In mixed drinks Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve can stand up by itself, but at the same time, blend in with the rest of the ingredients too. It makes this drink an absolute delight to mix with. In all, I have found a perfect drink in Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes drinking Scotch whiskey.
