5 Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Colors Review and Swatches

Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color is available at Lakme counters and online at Nykaa and retails for INR 750/- for 3.4 gms. This was an exciting range for me to try out, and I picked a couple from the 15 shades available. Now, either my choices are predictable, or I am a psychic, Lakme sent over a set of lipsticks, and the ones I had bought were in there. However, I love the fact that these colours are very different from the lipstick finishes I have, and  I like that a lot.

My Take on Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color

Unlike the previous packaging of the Lakme Absolute lipsticks, the packaging of these lipsticks are really impressive – beautiful gold tubes which actually remind me faintly of the ones from YSL, and I think luxury was the theme they wanted to go for, and they did make a good impression of it. The tube feels heavy, and the product inside is extremely emollient during application. The shades are all semi-sheer to start off, but can be built into near-opacity, which is a good thing. I tried these on and true to their form, they kept my lips pretty hydrated. The colours bled slightly, but didn’t feather or dry out my lips.

The five colours I would be swatching today are as follows:

Soft Nude – A soft, nude shade which is slightly light for my skintone, but is sheer enough to be pulled off. A great colour for office-wear.

Ruby Velvet – A rich, vibrant tomato red, which reminds me of Revlon Fire ‘N Ice. My top pick from the brand.

Pink Satin – Gorgeous blue-pink bordering on fuchsia. I think this can be a fabulous shade for virtually every skin tone.

Deep Brown – A dark, rich brown veering towards maroon just a bit.

Juicy Plum – A dark purple-plum shade, which looks more brown than purple on my lips.

Apart from the shade “Soft Nude” the rest of the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color shades fared pretty well in the staying power department. I ate and drank, and these shades did transfer, and fade, but left a pretty stain, especially Ruby Velvet and Juicy Plum. Deep Brown was much sheerer than I had estimated on my lips, but turned slightly darker on my lips after an hour, fading unevenly. All the shades are creamy, sans glitter or shimmer, which is a blessing. Out of all the colours, Ruby Velvet and Juicy Plum stayed put the best – Pink Satin was great, but accentuated my pigmented lips after a while (you can see that on the lip swatch when you look closely).

Overall, I think these lipsticks are great for those who like a more creamy, semi-sheer finish on their lips. If you have got one, do let me know what you think.
